ETHICAL ASPECTS

Studies Involving Humans

All studies involving human participants must have written approval from the ethics committee of the participating institution, and this approval must be attached to the manuscript submitted through OJS. Authors must state in the Methods section that the procedures performed on patients were approved by the ethics committee of their institution.

Confidentiality and Protection

The author is required to ensure that they have obtained written informed consent from each participant in the study.

The author is responsible for guaranteeing the right to privacy of the patients by protecting their identity in both the manuscript and any accompanying images. If such information is essential to the scientific objectives, it may be included only when written informed consent has been obtained from the patient or their parent or guardian. The same condition applies to the mention of institutions.

C. Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial relationships that could lead to a conflict of interest in connection with the published article. Even if no conflicts exist, this must be explicitly stated.

EDITORIAL POLICY

  1. Participated in the conception and execution of the work that led to the submitted article.

  2. Participated in the writing and revision of the manuscript.

  3. Approved the final version of the article for publication.

The journal encourages authors to disseminate their publications electronically through its official link and/or by sharing preprint or postprint versions on appropriate platforms.

DIGITAL PRESERVATION POLICY

The Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) for computing and communication services is primarily the responsibility of the IT Department of Universidad del Pacífico (UP). However, the Infrastructure & Services division is responsible for its development, maintenance, and execution. This division is in charge of the following:

  • Ensuring the continuity of UP’s computing services in case of major or catastrophic contingencies

  • Providing an organized response and recovery approach after an unplanned incident or prolonged service interruption, in order to minimize confusion and reduce error

  • Offering timely and appropriate responses to any unplanned incidents to reduce the impact of service interruptions

Backup and Recovery Procedures

  • Data Backup: OJS data is backed up daily using incremental and differential methods, allowing access to all modified or deleted information. The minimum historical storage time is one (1) year.

  • Data Recovery: In the event of equipment failure or other incidents, a backup server with the same configuration is available, enabling immediate replacement of the faulty system. A synchronization system is used to transfer data from the backup server to the replacement server.

COPYRIGHT

Acceptance of a manuscript for publication implies the automatic transfer of publication rights to Revista científica ciencias de la salud.

CORRECTIONS AND RETRACTIONS

If significant errors are found in a published article, a correction will be issued. These errors may be reported by authors or readers. The editorial team will ensure that the correction is published promptly. If a previous version is needed, readers may request it directly from the journal.

In some cases, a retraction followed by a new publication may be necessary, particularly when errors significantly affect interpretation or require substantial revision. The original article will remain accessible but will be clearly labeled as “Retracted.” The new version will be republished alongside an appendix highlighting the changes made for reader transparency.

Retractions may be initiated by one or more authors or by the editorial team. Each case is evaluated individually, taking into account independent investigations conducted by the authors' institutions. The editors are responsible for ensuring a transparent and effective process. All retracted articles remain available online and are clearly identified as such.

These actions are carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE):

BACKUP AND RECOVERY PROCEDURES (Duplicate Section)

  • Data Backup: OJS data is backed up daily using incremental and differential methods, allowing access to all modified or deleted information. The minimum historical storage time is one (1) year.

  • Data Recovery: In case of equipment failure or other issues, a backup server with the same configuration is available to replace the faulty system. Data is synchronized from the backup server to the replacement server.

PREPRINTS

Revista científica ciencias de la salud accepts manuscripts that have been previously posted on recognized preprint servers. This does not affect the peer-review process. If a preprint is shared publicly, it must be clearly stated that the manuscript has not undergone peer review and that the results are preliminary. It is recommended not to promote such content in the media before peer review.

USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

The use of AI is permitted only to improve grammar and style, under human supervision. It must not be used to generate scientific or clinical content. Authors are responsible for the final content.

A statement on the use of AI must be included in both the cover letter and the manuscript, before the References section. There is no need to disclose the use of basic spell-check or reference management tools.

DATA AVAILABILITY STATEMENT

Authors must include a section titled "Data Availability" at the end of the manuscript, before the References section. If data are stored in repositories, direct links or DOIs must be provided. If the data contain sensitive information about participants and are not publicly available, this must be clearly explained.
