Abstract

The objective of the research was to analyze the causal relationship between family ties and job performance in service companies. It used an applied methodology with a quantitative, descriptive-explanatory, non-experimental approach. The deductive-hypothetical method was used, employing ordinal logistic regression as the statistical method due to the behavior of the items with ordinal scales and Likert. applying construct-validated questionnaires in which a KMO = ,791 was obtained for the family bond variable and a KMO = ,825 for the dependent variable work performance; and both with Bartlett's sphericity test = .000 demonstrating a high relationship between the items; in addition, their reliability level using McDonald's Omega = ,753 for the independent variable and ,815 for the dependent variable. These questionnaires were administered to a population of 100 employees of service companies. The statistical test indicated that the complete model is significantly better than the empty model (p<,001), which means that family ties really help explain differences in job performance. In addition, the Nagelkerke value was .217. This indicator functions as a "percentage of explanation" of the model.
