Abstract

Tourism is an information-intensive sector where digital transformation and data heterogeneity pose challenges for effective management and strategic decision-making. On the one hand, the fragmentation of information across institutions and platforms limits destination planning and resilience, while digitization and artificial intelligence offer opportunities to optimize resources and personalize experiences. Therefore, the research objective is to propose strategic guidelines for the management of information resources in tourist destinations. The methodological design adopted a mixed, non-experimental, and documentary approach, with a descriptive and exploratory scope. A literature review and bibliometric analysis were combined to integrate the results. As a result, an increase in scientific production between 2020 and 2025 was identified, concentrated in countries such as China and Spain, and a trend toward the integration of intelligent information systems that facilitate sustainability and competitiveness. The proposed guidelines offer a model for the articulation between technology, ethics, and sustainability, which can be adapted to Latin American contexts where information is a central resource for innovation, transparency, and the consolidation of smart and sustainable tourist destinations
