This article employs a quantitative approach using descriptive bibliometric analysis to examine scholarly output on the internationalization of higher education (IoHE) between 2016 and 2021, within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). Using the Scopus database as the primary source, descriptive techniques and linear analysis were applied to evaluate 1,443 original articles, assessing annual trends, the geographic distribution of scholarly output, the most influential authors, the most active journals, and the most cited articles. The results show sustained growth in publications on IoHE, particularly in Europe and North America. The United Kingdom and the United States lead in scientific output, while authors such as Yemini and Stein stand out for their influence. Likewise, journals such as the Journal of Studies in International Education and Higher Education have established themselves as the most relevant in the field. This study underscores the importance of IoHE in achieving SDG 4 and its role in improving global educational quality. Implications for future research and educational policy are discussed.
