Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between psychosocial factors and attitudes toward scientific research among Peruvian university students. A basic, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational study was conducted. Participants included 407 students from two Peruvian universities, selected using non-probability convenience sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman's rho correlation, and content analysis. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between research anxiety and attitudes toward scientific research (ρ = 0.104; p = 0.035), as well as between research self-efficacy and attitudes (ρ = 0.280; p < 0.001). Qualitative analysis identified negative emotions and academic and methodological limitations as the main barriers. It is concluded that psychosocial factors are significantly related to the attitude towards scientific research, highlighting the importance of strengthening self-efficacy and formative support during higher education.
